Lake Street Dive

I'd like to introduce you to my new favorite band.  I'll get back to complaining about economics soon, but I haven't been in the mood of late.

Anyway, I discovered Lake Street Dive as a recommendation off some other video on YouTube.  Don't say their recommendation algorithm never gave you anything.  Even if it took years to introduce you to the best band to come along in ages.

I've been listening to their latest two albums nonstop for the last couple weeks, but thought I'd introduce you to just a couple tracks I really like before you go off to explore on Spotify, iTunes, or whatev.

Below, find their song "Call Off Your Dogs".  To me, this track sits right in the cranny where Soul meets Paul Simon-esque Afro-Pop.  The album version is much more disco, but the energy on this one is great.

Next, check out their performance of "Bad Self Portraits" on Letterman from a couple years back.  Another great soulful tune that just kills it.  BTW, I'd die if Paul Shaffer said of my music, "This is what it's supposed to be."

Finally, check out "I Don't Care About You" which is a lost Janis Joplin track if I've ever heard one.

Hope you love them like I do and go give them some money so they'll keep making records.
